PEOPLE, LIFE EVENTS & IDENTITY

Population

Malaysia's people in numbers — population, births, deaths, marriage and ageing, plus the identity and family records handled by JPN, religious offices and the Syariah court system.

POPULATION DATA DESK

People are more than a population count.

PulseKita separates demographic outcomes from administrative activity: births and deaths describe population change, while JPN, religious-office and court data describe how life events and legal records move through public institutions.

USE IT THIS WAY

Birth and death trends are demographic outcomes. JPN identity, citizenship and adoption values here are counter transactions; marriage, religious-office and Syariah-court figures use their own administrative definitions.

MARRIAGE & FAMILY

Marriage records move through different institutions.

Why keep the systems separate?

JPN handles civil registration and identity functions. State Islamic religious administrations manage Muslim nikah, cerai and rujuk processes. Syariah courts handle judicial cases and related registrations. PulseKita keeps their definitions and source years visible instead of adding unlike counts together.

IDENTITY & CITIZENSHIP

What moves through JPN's identity and status counters?

Transactions are not people.

JPN's published 2022 figures count counter transactions. They do not tell us how many identity cards were issued, how many citizenship applications were approved, or how many adoptions were completed.

NEXT LIFE-EVENT DATA

There is a larger civil-registration story to build.

National births, deaths and marriage/divorce are now joined by state marriage rankings, marriage-age profiles and district birth geography. Identity-card, citizenship and adoption counter activity are now visible as monthly JPN series. Next targets are MyKid, MyPR and MyKAS where publishable counts exist, citizenship outcome data when definitions are explicit, and deeper JKSM series such as hadhanah, sulh, harta sepencarian and nafkah.
