IN BRIEF

Bride and groom age distributions overlap but are not identical, so PulseKita keeps them as parallel views rather than combining them.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita materializes DOSM's Annual Marriage by State & Age Group dataset. Where the source contains a published Malaysia row, that national row is used directly; otherwise state counts are aggregated. Bride and groom series remain separate because combining them would count the same marriage twice.

  • Counts are kept separately for brides and grooms. Where the source provides a published Malaysia row, PulseKita uses it for the national age profile instead of adding it to state rows. State classification is based on each person's residence, and published marriage rates are retained only at state-age level because rates cannot be summed across states.
  • The bars show bride age groups only; groom age groups are contextual and remain separate.
  • This is a distribution of registered marriages, not the median age at first marriage and not a measure of the unmarried population.
