IN BRIEF

Malaysia is #5/8 in the verified 2024 ASEAN subset on the World Bank/UN Comtrade manufactures-export share.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita requests World Bank indicator TX.VAL.MANF.ZS.UN for all ASEAN members and fixes the comparison to 2024. The World Bank definition covers SITC Rev. 3 sections 5, 6, 7 and 8, excluding non-ferrous metals in division 68. Older observations are not carried forward. If the official API cannot return a usable same-year set, PulseKita shows the story as unavailable instead of seeding a mixed-year race.

  • Malaysia's 2024 World Bank/UN Comtrade manufactures share is 69.8%, ranking #5/8 among ASEAN members with a verified 2024 observation.
  • Not shown for 2024: Viet Nam, Lao PDR, Timor-Leste.
  • This is a merchandise-export composition measure. It does not measure manufacturing value added, domestic ownership, productivity or technological sophistication.
  • MATRADE reports manufactured goods as 85.5% of Malaysia's 2024 national exports under its own national trade classification. That figure is useful Malaysia context but is not substituted into this World Bank/UN Comtrade cross-country indicator.
