Method & notes
Malaysia sits fifth among ASEAN members with a verified 2024 goods-export value in this comparison.
METHOD & LIMITATIONSHow the numbers were calculated
PulseKita requests World Bank indicator BX.GSR.MRCH.CD for all 11 ASEAN members and fixes the comparison to 2024. Values are converted from current US dollars to billions. If the World Bank API is temporarily unavailable, PulseKita uses a source-backed 2024 fallback snapshot for the ten members with verified values. Myanmar is not backfilled because its latest value in this series is from 2019.
- Malaysia exported about US$248.4 billion of goods in 2024 and ranks 5/10 among ASEAN members with a verified 2024 value.
- Singapore, Viet Nam, Thailand and Indonesia are ahead of Malaysia in the 2024 goods-export comparison.
- Myanmar is excluded because the latest World Bank goods-export value available for this indicator is from 2019, not 2024.
- Goods exports are a balance-of-payments measure and should not be mixed with merchandise-export series from a different statistical framework.
- This story is using the live World Bank API response cached by PulseKita.
