Method & notes
IN BRIEF

This view keeps one consistent denominator: bride residence. It avoids the common mistake of adding bride and groom state rows together.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita materializes DOSM's Annual Marriages by State dataset and uses only female rows for the state ranking because the source classifies female rows by the bride's residence and male rows by the groom's residence. Those two series describe the same marriages from different residence perspectives and are never added together.

  • State classification follows the residence of the bride for female rows and the groom for male rows. Male and female residence series are kept separate and must not be added together because that would double-count marriages.
  • The ranking uses bride residence consistently across every frame.
  • The groom-residence series remains in the derived dataset for separate analysis and is not added to bride-residence counts.
