IN BRIEF

In March 2026, the 90th-percentile threshold was almost four times the national median monthly wage.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita reproduces DOSM's formal-sector wage distribution thresholds. The 90th percentile means 90% of covered formal employees earned below that threshold and the upper 10% earned at least that amount. The 10th-percentile figure is the corresponding lower-end threshold.

  • In March 2026, the national median monthly wage was RM3,027.
  • The 90th-percentile threshold was RM11,500 per month.
  • The bottom 10% received RM1,700 or less per month.
  • These statistics cover Malaysian citizens in the formal sector represented by DOSM's administrative-data methodology; they do not describe all workers or household income.
