Method & notes
Gini adds an inequality lens beside median income, poverty and spending on every state profile.
METHOD & LIMITATIONSHow the numbers were calculated
PulseKita uses the state Gini coefficient published in DOSM's HIES state dataset. Higher values indicate greater measured household-income inequality.
- The Gini coefficient measures dispersion of household income; it does not show absolute income levels.
- Two states can have similar Gini values while having very different median household incomes.
- Survey estimates should be interpreted with HIES sampling uncertainty in mind.
