METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita requests World Bank indicator SE.ENR.TERT.FM.ZS for 2024. The source GPI divides the female gross enrolment ratio by the male ratio; 1.00 is parity. For a readable race, PulseKita charts absolute distance from 1.00 in percentage points and orders lower first. The original GPI is retained in the notes.

  • The official World Bank API did not return a usable same-year 2024 ASEAN tertiary-parity comparison on this request.
  • Not shown for 2024: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Timor-Leste.
  • A GPI above 1 means the female gross enrolment ratio is higher than the male ratio; below 1 means the reverse. Distance from 1 intentionally removes direction to focus only on parity.
  • Gender parity in enrolment is not evidence of equal subject choice, completion, labour-market outcomes or pay.
