METHOD & LIMITATIONSHow the numbers were calculated
PulseKita requests World Bank indicator NV.IND.MANF.ZS for all 11 ASEAN members and fixes the comparison to 2024. This normalises manufacturing value added by economy size. Older observations are not substituted for missing 2024 values.
- Manufacturing represented about 22.5% of Malaysia's GDP in 2024, ranking #5/11 among ASEAN members returned for the same year.
- All requested ASEAN members returned a 2024 value.
- A higher manufacturing share is not automatically better: it describes economic structure, not productivity, wages, technology level or resilience.
