Method & notes
IN BRIEF

The sector mix separates manufacturing-heavy, services-heavy, resource-heavy and agriculture-heavy state economies at a glance.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita takes DOSM's 2025 real GDP at constant 2015 prices for the five main production sectors and divides each sector by the state's overall real GDP. Each frame is one state rather than one year.

  • This story compares economic structure, not economic size. A smaller state can have a higher manufacturing or agriculture share than a much larger economy.
  • W.P. Putrajaya is included within W.P. Kuala Lumpur in DOSM's state GDP series and therefore does not have its own frame.
  • The Supranational GDP category is excluded because it cannot be assigned to a specific state.
  • Sector sums may differ slightly from 100% because of independent rounding and product taxes less subsidies.
