Malaysia's registration leaders trace a visible shift from Proton dominance toward Perodua across the selected anchor years.
METHOD & LIMITATIONSHow the numbers were calculated
PulseKita uses selected reviewed annual top-model rankings derived from JPJ registration transactions. The source series covers 2000 onward, but this first nostalgia story intentionally uses anchor years rather than claiming a complete annual reconstruction. The 2026 frame is year-to-date through August.
- 2000: Proton Wira led with 91,909 registrations.
- 2005: Perodua Kancil led with 53,039 registrations.
- 2010 and 2014: Perodua Myvi led the selected rankings.
- 2016: Perodua Axia led with 85,895 registrations.
- 2025 and 2026 YTD: Perodua Bezza led the selected rankings.
- Registrations are not identical to manufacturer sales deliveries.
