Method & notes
IN BRIEF

The Kancil and basic Axia milestones stayed surprisingly close in nominal price, while safety, equipment and the wider cost of living changed around them.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita uses published entry or base launch prices for selected affordable Malaysian national-car milestones. These are nominal sticker prices, not inflation-adjusted and not a like-for-like specification comparison. The side panel intentionally lists the car models and price milestones instead of reusing a decorative vehicle photo.

  • 1985 Proton Saga 1.3S: RM17,575.
  • 1994 Perodua Kancil 660: around RM25,000.
  • 2014 Perodua Axia Standard E: RM24,600.
  • 2023 Perodua Axia E: RM22,000 OTR without insurance.
  • 2025 all-new Proton Saga: starting from RM37,990 inclusive of the stated launch rebate.
  • Equipment, safety standards, taxes and market positioning changed dramatically across these milestones.
