Method & notes
Malaysia ranks second among the eight ASEAN members with a verified 2024 value in this World Bank/UN Comtrade comparison.
METHOD & LIMITATIONSHow the numbers were calculated
PulseKita uses World Bank indicator TX.VAL.TECH.CD and includes only ASEAN members with a verified 2024 value. Viet Nam, Lao PDR and Timor-Leste are excluded because their latest verified values in this V2 snapshot are from 2023. Values are converted from current US dollars to billions for display.
- Malaysia is 2/8 in this same-year comparison at about US$134.8 billion.
- Singapore is about US$223.6 billion; Thailand US$61.3 billion; the Philippines US$34.4 billion; Indonesia US$10.4 billion.
- This indicator measures export value, not the domestic value-added share, technological sophistication of the whole economy or company ownership.
- Viet Nam's latest verified value is also very large, but because it is from 2023 it is deliberately not inserted into the 2024 race.
