Recent SUKMA tables reveal the difference between medal depth and gold-medal leadership.
METHOD & LIMITATIONS
How the numbers were calculated
PulseKita sums published gold, silver and bronze counts for recent comparable SUKMA editions. This is deliberately separate from the official championship race: SUKMA standings are decided by gold medals first, so the state with the most total medals is not always the overall champion.
In 2026, Selangor led both views with 245 total medals and 101 golds.
In 2024, Wilayah Persekutuan collected 212 total medals, more than Sarawak's 201, but Sarawak became overall champion because it won 76 golds to Wilayah's 75.
In 2022, Wilayah Persekutuan also had the most total medals (187), while Johor topped the gold table with 77.
Total-medal counts are useful for depth, while golds determine the championship ordering.
