Which phones are selling faster than their predecessors?
Counterpoint's public figures compare consumer sell-through sales with earlier generations. They are not market share, unit totals or a nationwide best-seller ranking.
Sell-through growth by model
Comparisons use matching post-launch windows. These selected models do not represent Malaysia's entire phone market.
A new phone generation does not always sell more
Counterpoint's public comparisons show varied results across models. Six of nine tracked devices exceeded their predecessor's sell-through in equivalent first-six-month launch windows, while three fell behind. This is not a representative ranking of Malaysia's entire smartphone market.
Why did some models rise while others fell?
These figures alone cannot establish the causes. Pricing, promotions, supply, distribution and buyer preferences might affect sales, but each explanation requires independent supporting evidence.
Comparison: each generation's first six months after launch. Public data through May 2026; figures are subject to Counterpoint revisions.
