Method & notes
IN BRIEF

Malaysia is #9/11 in the verified 2021 ASEAN subset by renewable share of final energy consumption.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita requests World Bank indicator EG.FEC.RNEW.ZS for all 11 ASEAN members and fixes the comparison to 2021 because Malaysia's latest observation shown by the World Bank page for this series is 2021. PulseKita does not insert newer years for other countries into the same race.

  • Renewables represented about 7.5% of Malaysia's total final energy consumption in 2021, ranking #9/11 among ASEAN members returned for that same year.
  • All requested ASEAN members returned a 2021 value.
  • This is renewable energy in total final energy consumption, not renewable electricity generation or installed renewable capacity.
  • A high renewable share can reflect hydropower, biomass and traditional renewable energy as well as newer solar and wind systems.
