Method & notes
IN BRIEF

Malaysia is #3/10 in the verified 2024 ASEAN subset by mobile subscriptions per 100 people.

METHOD & LIMITATIONS

How the numbers were calculated

PulseKita requests World Bank indicator IT.CEL.SETS.P2 for all 11 ASEAN members and fixes the comparison to 2024. The measure counts subscriptions, including qualifying prepaid and postpaid accounts, not unique people. Older observations are not carried forward.

  • Malaysia records about 140 mobile subscriptions per 100 people in 2024 and ranks #3/10 among ASEAN members returned for the same year.
  • Not shown for 2024: Lao PDR.
  • Values can exceed 100 because a person can hold multiple SIMs or subscriptions. This is not the percentage of people who own a mobile phone.
  • The indicator covers cellular subscriptions that provide voice communications and excludes some mobile-data-only services.
