Method & notes
Counting unique composers edition by edition lets the audience see how the writing room behind Malaysian hit songs changed over time.
METHOD & LIMITATIONSHow the numbers were calculated
For each edition, PulseKita counts distinct composer names across that edition's finalist songs after conservative alias normalisation. A composer credited on several songs in the same edition is counted once.
- The number can exceed the number of finalist songs because modern songs increasingly use co-composers.
- The measure describes songwriting-credit breadth, not artistic quality.
- Historical alias normalisation is conservative so uncertain identities are not merged.
